Todd Vachon for Congress, Connecticut 2nd District

Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am registered with the Secretary of State as an eligible write-in candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives in District 2.

How to Write in a Candidate

To Write in a Candidate:
Find the line for write-in votes. Fill in the oval for the office sought by the write-in candidate. Write the name of the candidate on the blank space.

Despite tireless efforts by dedicated volunteers we were denied access to the ballot this year due to the prohibitive laws set in place by the two-party monopoly. Falling just short of the necessary number of petition signatures, we elected to continue forward with a write-in campaign. We feel that it is important to give progressives, Socialists and Marxists alike an option that they can conscionably vote for. We stand for immediately ending the wars abroad, providing National Health Insurance to all Americans and creating new jobs by updating and repairing infrastructure; all measures that will help the economy to recover for the working class majority.

The Socialist Party has a rich history of electoral politics in The United States dating back to it’s formation in 1901. On the National level Eugene Debs and Norman Thomas captured the hearts and minds of millions of working class Americans who understood the injustice of a capitalist economy. In Connecticut we had the honor of electing several mayors and state representatives, including Mr. Jasper McLevy mayor of Bridgeport.

No small testament to perseverance, Mr. McLevy began running for mayor in 1901 and ran in every consecutive election until he finally won in 1933, along with a Socialist majority on the board of Aldermen. McLevy was a loved town leader and re-elected 11 times because of his commitment to the public and his clean and efficient government.

It is in this spirit of struggle for justice and equality that we are pleased to share the news of a unique opportunity to vote for Socialist candidates in CT for the first time in decades. Please help us spread the word. Re-Educate. Activate. Overcome.

In Peace & Solidarity,

Todd Vachon
